What's On The Menu?

Welcome to the Betty Blogger summer school!

I'm excited!

I am too! This blog has been cooked up as part of Burlington Public Library's web 2.0 training program to encourage the Burlington community to:

Explore some of the new technologies that are reshaping how people use the Internet to access information and interact with one another.

Think about how these new technologies can be incorporated into our lives, and how web 2.0 might begin to change the way we think about society and the exchange of information.

Reward the Burlington community for taking the initiative to complete the self-discovery exercises.

Who can participate?

The first 100 people who register at any one of the six Burlington Public Library branches.

What do I need to do?

Complete all of the tasks described in the Betty Blogger blog by the deadline of August 27th, 2010.

What's the reward?

*Monty Hall voice-over* Library Lady, let's tell them what they’ve won!

Behind curtain #1: All successful graduates of the Betty Blogger summer school who have completed their homework like good little students by the August 26th deadline will be eligible for our grand prize draw, and the chance to win our exciting prize... A 16GB BlackBerry Playbook!!!!

*wild applause, nodding of head, and general jubilation*

The Betty Blogger project is modeled on similar programs at other libraries, most notably the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenberg County.

The Betty Blogger summer school was designed by the Burlington Public Library Training Librarian. More information about the program can be found on the blog homepage at http://bettyblogger2011.blogspot.com/.
